Unfortunately, with her type of deafness, she obtained no benefit from hearing aids. It’s always worse for her at night and her eyesight will be gone fully by the time she’s ten. It takes her a little bit to even recognize her own brother, especially at night when she can’t see a thing. I see her eyesight getting worse every day now. I hope that all of my grandchildren will be healthy but I will love them all any way they are.Įvery day Mollie is getting worse. If she marries a carrier, there is a 75% chance that her children will be carriers and a 25% chance her child will have Ushers. If Mollie marries someone with Usher Syndrome, then there is a 100% chance that all her kids will have the disease. Although she may not be able to raise them on her own, I will always be there to help her. Fortunately, Mollie can still have children. ![]() Since Usher Syndrome is autosomal recessive and Rob and I were both carriers, there was a 25% chance that Mollie would have Usher Syndrome. I am a carrier because my dad had Usher Syndrome and my mom was a carrier and for my ex-husband Rob, his mom had Usher Syndrome and his dad was a carrier. Mollie inherited this disease through me and my ex-husband. ![]()
